Solid RPG

The world ended. The game begins.
Aftermath is a post apocalyptic RPG. I love it.
There is a very great deal of info in these books culled from basic training, survival and disaster preparedness manuals.
Asteroid impacts, zombies, social unrest, nuke outs, petroleum eating bacteria - its all in there.
That said, this game was written by math happy chart geeks. The basic character generation system and the combat framework are very solid but if your group absolutely has to use every single chart presented for every single situation you will spend all night rolling dice and never get the story moving. I usually handle most of that during game prep and it works out pretty good.
Some of the modules are really fun. The original game designers had a really wierd sense of humor. Carnivorous Koala bears.
A few minor notes: Guns are deadly (ya, no kidding) so remind your players to duck. Often it only takes 1 hit.
If you give the party has a hand grenade they will almost always wipe themselves out.
Keep a few campaign specific pre-generated characters around so things do not slow down too much.

Old School game and Fun

Aftermath is an old school system that provides much of the style and mechanics to current RPGs of today. Aftermath was one of my first post-Apocalypse games I played back in the 80's. My original copy has not weather the years well this was a repurchases to get the original matierals and to introduce younger players of today to what I did back in the old days. Glory days can live on.

Great Post Apocalyptic RPG

Great Post Apocalyptic RPG. Produced in the 80's during the cold war and imminent nuclear war, it was very fun to play. Now it is all about zombies and diseases, but this still can be played with those type scenarios.
