I took the author's class using this book as the text and went through 85% of it in detail. The content is well organized and developed into 37 chapters. There is absolutely no "fat" in the text. Chapters are relatively short so I felt accomplished whenever a chapter is done :-) Every example and problem is well chosen and balanced to cover a wide range of topics in transport phenomena and solution techniques, both analytical and numerical.

The code samples are in ANSI C but the author uses Matlab/Octave in the classroom due to its prototyping and visualization capabilities. (He often plays with the code and explains the results interactively, which I thought was very productive in teaching.) The price of the book is relatively high but it's worth buying and keeping.

Tremendous Overview of GI Physiology for the begginer or advanced

I read this book before ever taking a class on GI physiology (though I have a background in other aspects of physiology and biochemistry), and I was hooked from the first chapter. I was able to understand it as if I was reading Harry Potter. A year later I read it again for fun as a bedtime treat. It is tremendously well organized, each chapter is logically set up so that it is easy to think back over the material to yourself and review it without the book in front of you. She explores the molecular mechanisms of action for many aspects of the GI system in good detail, and each chapter includes clinical corelates that are so perfectly related to the info you just learned that you can predict the etiology and the treatment from the symptoms. Awesome

great for 1st/2nd year use

Used this book for the physiology portion of my second year GI module. Just the right amount of depth. Fairly easy to read. I recommend for first/second year usage or for board review.

Great Book for GI course
By Mother of two
As a medical student I used this to study for my GI course. I found it well organized and easy to read. I used this as my primary study guide and read every page of it at least once. Did very well in my class and so far I am doing well on my USMLE practice questions over GI as well. Highly recommend.
